Alike is built by and for the cancer community. We ask everyone here to help keep it safe too. To make this space welcoming, we all need to show up, be our best selves (even on days when that feels tough), and do our part.
This is our promise to each other: to make Alike a place where connection feels meaningful and real.
If you see something that doesn’t sit right, please let us know. Breaking this promise may also mean breaking Alike’s Terms of Use, which could result in losing access to the app. Simple as that.
We’re counting on you to…
- Respect each other. Everyone’s experience is different. Some stories will be raw, some funny, some hopeful, some hard to read. All of them matter. Read with empathy, respond with kindness.
- Be yourself. Share your story in your own way — your photos, your posts, your words. No copy-paste spamming, no pretending to be someone else. We care about you and your authenticity.
- Look out for each other. Report anything that feels unsafe or breaks this promise. Protect your own energy, and support others in protecting theirs.
- Keep it real. Share your experiences — the ups, the down, the side effects, the things that helped you cope. But leave medical advice to healthcare professionals. What worked for you may not be right for someone else.
- Celebrate, don’t sell. Mark your firsts, shout about your achievements, your projects, your fundraising, your creative work — not your second-hand sofa or side-hustle. Alike isn’t a marketplace.
We won’t accept and will remove…
- Hate speech, discrimination, harassment, bullying, or abuse of any kind. Alike has a zero-tolerance stance towards this behaviour.
- Illegal activity of any kind.
- Sharing anyone else’s story or content without their permission.
- Health misinformation, or promoting/actively encouraging alternative therapies or treatments.
- Pornography, graphic content, or anything sexual in nature.
- Content featuring weapons, hunting, or anything violent.
- Images of children alone, or children not fully clothed. (Alike is 18+, always.)
- Shirtless/underwear mirror selfies, bikini/swimwear indoors, or any photos where your face isn’t clearly visible.
Our promise to you
- We’ll keep Alike moderated so you can feel safe here.
- We’ll listen to feedback and keep improving with the community in mind.
- We’ll always prioritise respect, inclusivity, and care.
